Housing minister Chris Bishop says the government has given Auckland council an extra year to change its plans around where housing can and cannot be built in the city. Bishop met Auckland mayor Wayne Brown on Tuesday to confirm the council had been given an extension on "Plan Change 78".The minister said the council would have until March 31, 2026, to pass a plan change accommodating the National Policy Statement on Urban Development. "Auckland is in a unique situation at the moment for two reasons: one is the impact t...
