Govt extends events underwrite after omicron cancels summer

The government has extended its underwrite for major events until the end of the year after the omicron outbreak brought summer festivals to an abrupt end.Regional economic development minister Stuart Nash said the events transition support payment scheme had been extended until the end of January next year, meaning organisers of large festivals could claim 90% of unrecoverable costs if they had to cancel due to public health measures.The programme had also been widened to cover business events with at least 200 people, and now included a cance...
