Maori Council backs short-term 5G spectrum allocation

The Maori Council has backed the government’s interim auction of 5G radio spectrum rights which sets aside an allocation for iwi ahead a major auction in 2022.Communications Minister Kris Faafoi today said Cabinet approved a short-term allocation of 3.5 gigahertz spectrum needed for fifth-generation mobile services. About half that spectrum band – 210 megahertz - is currently unallocated.
