MBIE officials wary of extending 90-day trials to big end of town

Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment officials aren’t keen on the government’s push to extend 90-day trials to all employers, saying the status quo – where they’re available only to small firms – captures most of the benefits. The National-led administration’s coalition agreement with Act included the extension of the 90-day trials – where employers can dismiss staff for any reason – to all businesses from the current setting, where they're limited to firms with up to 20 staff....
