Initial reactions to the Government’s planned science sector reforms have often been positive but tempered with concerns about neglecting basic research.The Government announced on Jan 23 that it plans to merge the seven Crown Research Institutes (CRIs) into three Public Research Organisations (PROs) and create a fourth technology-based PRO.
