An expert panel is being set up to consider a major wharf expansion project at Port of Tauranga under the Fast-track Approvals Act.The port has been trying for several years to get resource consent for its Stella Passage development, which includes major wharf extensions at the Sulphur Point container terminal and the Mount Maunganui terminal, as well as associated reclamation and dredging.Port of Tauranga has capacity for between 1.3 and 1.4 million containers, or 20-foot equivalent units (TEU).
