The days of kids returning empties to the local dairy for their pocket money could be making a comeback but the government’s plan to “transform” recycling might also see a 6.5% drop in beverage sales.The proposal, released on Sunday, would add a 20 cent refundable deposit to the purchase price of any beverage, other than fresh dairy milk, that is sold in a recyclable (but not refillable) container.The cost of administering the scheme is also estimated to add a further 3-5c plus GST per container.Even though consumers will be a...
