Annual service charges in the forestry Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) will be axed for the 2024 financial year, forestry minister Todd McClay says. In October, the Ministry for Primary Industries started charging forest owners an annual fee of $30.25 (excluding GST) per hectare of post-1989 forest land in the ETS to help cover the administrative costs involved in running the scheme.Young native forests were excluded from the annual charge.McClay said the government would remove the annual charge for the 2024 financial year and introduce a...
