Housing consents smash 48-year record

New home consents got within a whisper of 50,000 for the 12 months through February, the highest annual level for 48 years. Stats NZ said consents for the past year were at 49,733, up 25% compared with the same period in 2021, and up almost 10,000 consents on the 40,025 consents recorded during the 12 months ended February 1974.That record was first broken in the year to March 2021.Despite it being a short month, there were a total of 4,195 new homes consented, which is up 34% year-on-year and the highest number for any February, Stats NZ...
