Briscoe Group has reported a decline in half-year profits and tempered its expectations despite holding sales close to last year’s record levels. The listed retailer, which operates Briscoes Homeware and Rebel Sport stores, posted a net profit after tax (npat) of $29.3 million for the six months to July 27.It was down almost 12% on the $33.2m it booked in the same period a year earlier, but in line with half-year guidance set at “not less than $29m” in early August.Managing director Rod Duke said the group was “plea...
