The deadline to consider an application to merge Foodstuffs North Island and Foodstuffs South Island was extended by the Commerce Commission on Monday.The two currently operate as separate co-operatives. They sought clearance to merge into a single national grocery entity late last year.If successful, along with Woolworths, the merged entity would be one of two major grocery retailers in New Zealand, something the Commission (ComCom) is concerned could reduce competition.In April, the ComCom said its main concerns relate "to the potential...
