Sanford lifts first-half profit 43% with focus on higher value fish fillets

By Rebecca Howard May 23 (BusinessDesk) - Sanford, New Zealand's largest listed seafood company, lifted first-half profit 43 percent as it continued to focus on higher value items such as fish fillets rather than frozen commodity products.  Profit rose to $27.3 million, or 29.2 cents per share, in the six months ended March 31, from $19 million, or 20.4 cents, a year earlier, the Auckland-based company said in a statement.
