Flying to Queenstown on a Sunday morning in early April, I felt strangely nervous, not knowing exactly what was ahead. This anxiety seemed silly given I was heading to Aro Hā, the multi-award-winning luxury wellness retreat in Glenorchy. Aro Hā’s website showcased photos of lake and mountain views, a supremely Instagrammable outdoor hot tub, a yoga room and groups of smiling people hiking.  It promised daily yoga, hours-long, sub-alpine hikes and massages.
