South Auckland? That was pretty much the response of everyone when I discussed my plans for a vineyard lunch in a region not known for its wines. There are vineyards in the region – Āwhitu, Pūriri Hills – but since Villa Maria closed, the area has been sorely lacking in vine dining options. And then there’s John Hill.
