National MP Nicola Willis was sworn in as minister of finance in October and also holds the public service, social investment, and associate climate change portfolios. She entered parliament in 2018, replacing Steven Joyce on the list, and became the party’s deputy leader just three years later. Willis was born and raised in Lower Hutt; her mother was a press gallery journalist and her father a corporate lawyer.
