The journey is half the fun when visiting Tantalus Estate Vineyard on Waiheke Island. First, you book online. You have to hand over your credit-card details before you even open a menu, and are warned of a $50 per person cancellation fee ($150 given there were three of us). Then you have to figure out the confusing ferry timetable and gulp at the fares ($29.50 each, one way, with an AT Hop concession).
