US retailers weighing on orange roughy prices with sustainability concerns, Sanford says

May 24 (BusinessDesk) – Prices for orange roughy are at their lowest in 3-4 years, partly as a result of some US retailers boycotting the species because of concerns about the sustainability of the fishery, Sanford says. The Auckland-based fishing company made the comments with its first-half results, which showed a 5.5 percent gain in profit to $14 million. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, impairments and other adjustments fell to $27 million from $29.9 million, which the company said was the result of a high kiwi dollar eating...
