Genesis

Genesis Energy generates and distributes electricity and gas to retail and wholesale customers in New Zealand. The company owns the largest thermal power plant by capacity in NZ, eight hydro stations and one wind farm. Genesis also has a 46% equity interest in the Kupe oil and gas field in NZ. The company uses gas and LPG production from Kupe to sell to retail and wholesale customers.

Genesis was listed on the NZX in 2014 and also trades on the ASX. The company is one of the largest energy companies in NZ with a market capitalisation of more than $3 billion in 2020. Marc England has been CEO since 2016.
