Marlborough Wine Estates Group has announced the resignation of its chief executive, Andrew Stafford.

Stafford will be leaving the company at the end of May.

In the meantime, Conan Wang, who has been with the business for eight years in sales and operations management roles, will take on the position in an interim capacity.

The company's board will be reviewing the group's future leadership requirements.

Wang, who has played a key role in the successful development of Marlborough Wine Estates' branded wine business, will work closely with Stafford to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
