Meridian Energy Limited released its monthly operating report for January 2022, showing hydro storage increased to 117% of historical average and national electricity demand was 1.9% higher than the same month last year.
The Waitaki catchment water storage was 99% of historical average, but Waiau catchment storage was well below average.
January was a warm and dry month, with New Zealand Aluminium Smelter’s average load during the month at 572MW, and Meridian’s New Zealand retail sales volumes 16.2% higher than January 2021.
