Meridian Energy has reported a significant increase in national hydro storage and total inflows for the month of September 2025.

National hydro storage rose from 79% to 110% of the historical average, with South Island storage at 107% of average and North Island storage at 118% of average.

Meridian's monthly total inflows were 181% of the historical average, with Waiau catchment inflows reaching 201% of the historical average.

The company's retail sales volumes in September 2025 were also 18.5% higher than in the same month last year.

However, in the first quarter, total inflows were 120% of the historical average, 18% lower than the same period last year.

Meridian's Waitaki catchment water storage at the end of Q1 was 10% lower than in Q1 last year.

The company's customer numbers were 21.2% higher compared to the same time last year.
