Pacific Edge chairman, Chris Gallaher, will delay his retirement until 2025, the company has announced.

The decision was made in order to provide stability and confidence to Pacific Edge and its stakeholders, amidst ongoing uncertainty over Medicare coverage for the company's Cxbladder tests and the need to recruit a successor for Gallaher.

His retirement was originally planned for the end of this year, after a handover to a new chair.

The announcement comes after Novitas, the Medicare Administrative Contractor responsible for Pacific Edge's US lab, was granted an extension to finalise or withdraw the draft Local Coverage Determination for genetic testing in oncology.

The Pacific Edge board nomination committee is currently in the process of recruiting new independent directors, but no timeline has been provided for the LCD finalisation or the appointment of Gallaher's successor.
