Retirement village operator, Summerset Group, has reported a 21% increase in sales for the first quarter of 2024.

The company sold a total of 255 occupation rights, including 134 new sales and 121 resales, in the three months ending March 31.

Summerset's highest selling villages for the quarter were Te Awa in Napier, Papamoa, and Bell Block in New Plymouth.

The strong sales were attributed to the recent opening of the main buildings in these villages.

Chief executive Scott Scoullar said the company remained on track to deliver 675-725 homes this year and also achieved a major milestone with the first Australian residents moving into Summerset Cranbourne North in March.

More contracts are expected to settle at the Australian village in the second quarter.
