Extensive experience in strategic, operational and tactical policing, preventing offending and victimisation of Māori, Pacific and ethnic people.
Made an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit in 2017.
Awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation for leading the largest Māori protest hïkoi in history – from Northland to Wellington – without incident or arrest.
Awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation in 2000 for work with iwi in the Bay of Plenty.
Awarded the Queens Service Medal in 1998.
Continues to lead the development of major policy programmes for Māori, Pacific people and other ethnic groups.
