  • Appointed June 2018.
  • Extensive experience in strategic, operational and tactical policing, preventing offending and victimisation of Māori, Pacific and ethnic people.
  • Made an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit in 2017.
  • Awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation for leading the largest Māori protest hïkoi in history – from Northland to Wellington – without incident or arrest.
  • Awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation in 2000 for work with iwi in the Bay of Plenty.
  • Awarded the Queens Service Medal in 1998.
  • Continues to lead the development of major policy programmes for Māori, Pacific people and other ethnic groups.
