Aluminium smelter boss heads to Mercury

Stewart Hamilton, the chief executive and general manager of New Zealand's Aluminium Smelter at Tiwai Point, has been appointed as the new general manager generation at listed energy company Mercury.He will leave in July after a career spanning 22 years at the Rio Tinto controlled company.Daniel van der Westhuizen, acting managing director of Rio Tinto's pacific operations, said Hamilton's leadership had been valued during what was a "very public" period of transition.Rio Tinto signalled the closure of the smelter, and the...
