Asset pricing rules deterring KiwiSaver funds from private investments

KiwiSaver providers should be able to opt out of rules that are hindering them from chasing potential higher returns in private assets, according to a legal opinion released on Thursday.The Centre for Sustainable Finance: Toitū Tahua (CSF) commissioned the legal opinion on those barriers from law firms Chapman Tripp and MinterEllisonRuddWatts. The two firms pointed out there was no outright legal prohibition in place now that prevented KiwiSaver providers from investing in private assets. Several KiwiSaver providers have already moved...
