Big spending Auckland wants developers to front up

Auckland Mayor Phil Goff has hinted at increased development contributions and ‘special purpose vehicle’ funding for large scale property developments, as the city's spending on assets jumped 25 percent to $2.6 billion in the 2020 June year.With the council committing to "similar spending" levels in the coming year despite the impacts of covid, Goff said the money would need to "come from somewhere."“Auckland is a high-growth city and it can’t all be funded by the city, so we need new funding idea...
