Covid saliva test trialled at Auckland Airport gets US emergency authorisation

A covid-19 saliva test licensed to New Zealand’s Rako Science and tested at Auckland International Airport has been granted emergency use authorisation in the US by the US Federal Drug Administration.The University of Illinois developed the so-called Shield saliva test and, since July 2020, has been using it at their Urbana campus. They have conducted more than 1.5 million tests to date.The test is aimed at replacing invasive nasal swab testing and the emergency authorisation means it can be more widely used in the United States.Rako Scie...
