On Jan 11, the Prime Minister tweeted that the country was “open for business”. He was tweeting after the country experienced a massive exodus of young people to Australia, with 1.5% of the country’s population migrating there in the year to May 2023. To avoid all doubt, the country in question is not New Zealand but the tiny nation of Bhutan, often called a “hermit kingdom” for its approach to foreign capital, tourists and development.
