New Zealand’s fiscal position has deteriorated markedly, and Budget 2024 is for the “squeezed middle of New Zealand,” finance minister Nicola Willis said. “What is apparent now, compared to six months ago, is that the current downturn started earlier, has been deeper, and is expected to last for longer than previously thought,” said Willis.
