Community papers join queue for essential service status

Community newspaper publishers are optimistic they may be reclassified as essential services for the duration of the national lockdown.The government last week restricted newspaper publication to the major daily groups – despite some communities – such as Wairoa, Kaikoura and Whakatane – not having a local daily newspaper.
