Govt will review the future of petrol tax cuts

The government says it will keep an eye on what happens with oil prices to see if the current 25-cent cut in petrol taxes needs to be extended or when it can be reversed.This comes as ministers and oil companies warn that oil prices still might rise further because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.Officials will also be closely watching petrol retailers to ensure the tariff cut is passed on and they are not taking advantage of rising oil prices to fatten their margins.Prime minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Monday that 25c a litre will be...
