The number of new people receiving the Covid-19 Income Relief Payment (CIRP) and Jobseeker Support increased for first time in six weeks in the week to Aug. 7.A further 1,600 people are now receiving one of these benefits, bringing the total number to 215,000, up from 145,000 in March prior to the first lockdown.It was also the first time in five weeks that the number of jobs covered by a wage subsidy decreased substantially, with the end of the wage subsidy extension for the first 96,000 workers.
