Spark has won the job to develop a new data platform enabling Stats NZ to move to monthly reporting of the consumers price index (CPI).The country’s statistics agency was allocated $16.5 million in May’s budget to start delivering CPI data each month from early 2027, as opposed to the current quarterly reporting schedule.New Zealand is the only country in the OECD that still reports on inflation quarterly, aside from Australia, which is in the process of transitioning to monthly releases.The current technology used to produce the qu...
