NZ small businesses grew jobs and sales in May

Sales and jobs at small businesses are improving, their invoices were paid faster and wages rose 3.2%.The data collected by accounting software provider Xero was compared with annualised data from May 2019 because May 2020 was impacted by the national lockdown.On that basis, jobs rose 4.7% in May this year while sales were up 6.2%.The strongest sales were through retail businesses, up 8.8%, construction, up 7.6%, and hospitality, up 7.5%, while the strongest jobs growth was in Northland, up 7.1%, Waikato, up 6.1%, and Hawke's Bay and Canter...
