Reserve Bank sets lower capital bar for business growth fund investments

The Reserve Bank will set a 250% risk weight for bank investments in the government’s $100 million business growth fund, meaning lenders won’t have to hold as much capital to back their funding as they would normally. In last year’s budget, the government set aside $100m for investment as a minority shareholder in a business growth fund, alongside private banks.The fund is an investment model already established in the UK, Ireland, Canada, and Australia.
