The government will kick back rebates of up to $8,625 for new electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles and $3,450 for used plug-ins from next month.Under the new 'clean car' scheme, buyers can claim a direct rebate from NZ Transport Waka Kotahi on electric vehicles registered from July 1. To help pay for the scheme, a sliding scale of fees will also apply to high emission vehicles from Jan 1 next year, with those fees adjusted to ensure the scheme is self-funding.As it stands, however, discounts are not available for vehicles with a st...
