Inflow of migrants slows as outflow of New Zealanders reaches record levels

The outflow of New Zealanders has hit record levels and the monthly inflow of migrants has slowed down. Stats NZ population indicators manager Tehseen Islam said the net outflow of 52,500 New Zealand citizens in the year to March was the first time the number had exceeded 50,000. This net outflow figure was made up of 78,200 NZ citizens leaving and 25,800 arriving in the country, although the numbers are provisional and often revised.Islam said, based on the provisional numbers, for every NZ citizen who came back to the coun...
