ComCom confirms power bill hike to pay for increased spending on electricity networks

The Commerce Commission has confirmed average household power bills will increase by $10 a month from April 2025 and then $5 more each year for four years to cover the cost of spending on electricity lines and transmission networks.The regulator’s final decision on what electricity lines companies and Transpower can spend accepts a large increase is needed to maintain and upgrade networks for the five-year regulatory period starting April 1, 2025.Commissioner Vhari McWha said deferring investment would mean higher future prices and risk u...
