Comcom gas decision will cost consumers $190 over 4 years

The Commerce Commission has decided to stick to its guns and allow the owners of gas pipeline businesses to raise prices for consumers, although not as much as it originally proposed.The decision means that about 300,000 gas customers will pay an extra $48 per year for the next four years, or about 3.8% more, and a total of $190 over that period, over and above the cost of wholesale gas.The commission’s draft decision would have meant a $55 a year annual cost increase in each of the next four years. The commission’s reasoning i...
