Construction on a rail spur linking Northport with the North Auckland rail line won’t start until late 2026 or early 2027 at the earliest.Northport, which is owned 50/50 by NZX-listed Marsden Maritime Holdings (MMH) and Port of Tauranga (PoT), is one of only two ports in New Zealand not connected to the rail network.A consortium made up of Northland Regional Council, PoT and Ngāpuhi investment fund Tupu Tono last week said it had conditionally agreed to buy out the minority shareholders in MMH for $5.60 a share and delist the company.Unde...
