Three crude oil tankers and a fuel tanker are anchored off the Whangarei harbour mouth as the country’s fuel sector slowly starts moving more volume as activity picks up through the reduced constraints of the covid-19 lockdown.The refinery at Marsden Point is operating at only about half capacity after the national lockdown halted most aviation and initially slashed petrol and diesel demand by about 80 percent.
