After the Interislander ferry Aratere grounded in the Marlborough Sounds, KiwiRail accused Maritime NZ of causing unnecessary delays in returning the ship to service.Ministerial briefings released by the Ministry of Transport show the regulator strongly pushed back on the claim, which it said was made by KiwiRail during a quarterly meeting on July 22, a month after the grounding.Agencies are still investigating the incident.
