Spark reaps benefit of mobile focus as profit gains

Spark New Zealand expects even bigger mobile revenue gains in the current financial year after making inroads into the increasingly valuable market, but has pared back expectations for its wireless broadband growth.The country’s biggest telecommunications company today reported a net profit of $167 million in the six months ended Dec. 31, up from $153 million a year earlier.Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation and investment income increased 2.2 percent to $500 million, with revenue up 4 percent at $1.82 billion.Mobile was...
