“We joked just the other day, it’s a well-known fact that the arts are best run by lawyers. That is certainly the case when it comes to Bill Sheat,” former arts minister Chris Finlayson says.The Lower Hutt lawyer and arts administrator passed away yesterday after a battle with liver cancer.Hawera-born Sheat was the son of William Sheat, who served as National MP for Patea from 1943 to 1954 and Egmont from 1957 to 1966.Bill Sheat moved to Wellington in the 1960s and studied a combined arts and law degree at Victoria University....
