The Government is shaking up the rules around gene technology, overturning a 30-year ban on its use outside laboratories.Science, Innovation and Technology Minister Judith Collins said legislation to end the ban, including on genetically modified organisms (GMOs), would be introduced to Parliament by the end of the year.The new legislation will be based on Australia’s Gene Technology Act 2000.
