A debt collector and its director have been convicted and fined for misleading conduct.Law Debt Collection (LDC) and its director, John Stuart Campbell, were ordered to pay a total of $115,500 in fines and emotional harm reparations for breaching the Fair Trading Act.Campbell and LDC pleaded guilty to making misleading representations when collecting debt, following a prosecution by the Commerce Commission.The commission said debt collectors had the right to pursue money owed, but must do so fairly and honestly, without exploiting vulnerable co...
