Beleaguered businessman Eric Watson has averted bankruptcy in the High Court in Auckland after filing an eleventh-hour protest based on jurisdiction. Watson lives on the Spanish island of Ibiza.Bankruptcy proceedings were heard in the court on Feb 1 but were stayed after Watson filed an “appearance under protest to object to the jurisdiction of the court” the previous day.According to the 10th liquidators’ report, filed earlier this month at the Companies Office for Watson’s Cullen Group and related entities, the ba...
