Corporate heavyweight Tony Gibbs, who was once sacked by Ron Brierley for speaking out against plans for a proposed demerger of Guinness Peat Group, has died at the age of 72.He started at GPG in 1993 but ended his run when a board rift over strategy culminated in his unauthorised public statement criticising a demerger plan in 2010.At the time, GPG chairman Ron Brierley said the decision was made “with much sadness but was unavoidable.”"Tony was a great achiever for GPG in earlier times and we worked together, closely and effe...
