MARKET CLOSE: NZ shares rise, led by A2 after $40 mln placement; Contact, Meridian, MRP gain

Contact Energy, Meridian Energy and MightyRiverPower advanced. The S&P/NZX 50 Index rose 13.01 points, or 0.2 percent, to 5638.79. Within the index, 23 stocks rose, 19 fell and eight were unchanged.
